The 2009 Dublin Handel Festival launched in Fishamble St today with the annual performance of Messiah on the Street. Messiah on the Street takes place each year and 2009 is an exceptional year as it’s the commemoration of 250 years after Handel’s death and Temple Bar Cultural Trust are running a whole series of events around his music. Check out the programming for the festival here.
As a part of the festival the incomparable David Rees-Williams Trio perform in the resonant surroundings of Christ Church Cathedral this coming Friday 17th. Their unique interpretations of jazz, popular and baroque music will kick off at 8pm and if you would like to be in the running for a pair of tickets for their performance just post a comment below. The winner will be chosen at random on Thursday evening.
