New Music for Tipp

I was thrilled yesterday to receive word from the Arts Council that they are to support a project I’ve been working on for about a year now. I have invited the National Chamber Choir (NCC) to perform works of contemporary choral music in Tipperary in September (Friday 4 Sept – pencil in the date now!) this year to increase the availability of this calibre of performance for Tipperary audiences and to expand the audience for contemporary music outside of the major urban centres in Ireland.

The performance will also include a commission by Irish composer Ian Wilson for the NCC and soloist Iarla Ó Lionáird. I have had the pleasure of working closely with Ian Wilson previously in Sligo and had the opportunity to work briefly with the NCC at the 2008 RTÉ Living Music Festival. This will be my first major project with Iarla Ó Lionáird and I am really looking forward to it! Watch this space for more information as September gets closer. I’ll create a separate page on this site for more information on the performance.
